Nicola is an Ethnomusicologist whose predominant research interest is in the English Folk Scene and its contemporary traditions.
A current PhD student under Fay Hield at the University of Sheffield, Nicola's thesis in progress is researching 'Processes of assimilation in traditional, contemporary music'. A blog will be created about this research further into the project.
Past research projects include:
- Music for English Morris dance; the role of creativity, expression and constructs of 'tradition' in the contemporary English folk scene.
- A recital and composition project from the Full English Archive.
